Nancy Oriol
Faculty associate dean for community engagement in medical education
Nancy Oriol wears many hats at Harvard Medical School — all with a focus on community.
As an anesthesiologist, The Family Van founder, and HMS MEDscience co-founder, Nancy Oriol has created solutions to address community needs.
Through her work with the Program in Medical Education, community programs, and student groups, she strengthens both curricular and extracurricular service-learning activities.
“Harvard Medical School is the one place where I can do it all,” she says.
Adam Rodman
HMS assistant professor of medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
In addition to his clinical work as an internal medicine physician, Adam Rodman studies how artificial intelligence changes the way physicians think, learn, and care for patients.
Powered by collaborations across the HMS community, Rodman says, “all of us work together to that one end, which is to do the right thing for our patients and to push science forward.”
Ria Goyal and Soham Ghoshal
HMS students are supported by more than 12,000 faculty who are advancing science and medicine in their labs, classrooms, and clinics.
Ria Goyal, MD ’28, turns to world-class researchers and peers to guide her to improve patients’ lives through expert clinical care.
Soham Ghoshal, MD/MBA ’26, works with mentors at HMS-affiliated hospitals to shape his research on improving patient outcomes in orthopedic surgery.
Through their HMS journeys, Goyal and Ghoshal are becoming leaders and compassionate caregivers, shaping the future of science and medicine with their knowledge and passion.
Zirui Song
Associate professor of health care policy, HMS associate professor of medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital
Zirui Song is working to improve health care delivery in the United States through comprehensive health policy studies on quality, costs, and access.
He says much of this work is possible because of his colleagues and students.
“Our students offer the brightest minds and collaborators,” Song says. “They are kind, they are curious, they are hardworking, and they have a value system that is geared toward making the health care system better for patients, more sustainable for society, and more equitable for all the patients it serves.”
Joia Mukherjee
HMS associate professor of medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, associate professor of global health and social medicine
Trained in internal medicine, pediatrics, and infectious disease, Joia Mukherjee is a global health expert who travels the world for her clinical and scientific work.
She leads academic programs and conducts research to understand the structural barriers to health care and develop innovative solutions to address them.
“That is why I’m here at Harvard Med: to make sure that everyone gets the fruits of science and the right to health,” Mukherjee says.
