The Harvard University Board of Overseers appoints a visiting committee to report on each professional school at the University. The committee—consisting of key alumni active in relevant fields, distinct experts outside the Harvard network, and select Overseer members—convenes every two years to meet with HMS senior leadership, faculty, student, and affiliate representatives and assess the quality and effectiveness of the Medical School’s objectives for excellence in education, teaching, and research.
