Program in Medical Education (PME)

The PME oversees the MD program at HMS and strives to empower students, faculty, and alumni to work together to transform the world of medicine

Health Sciences & Technology (HST)

The HST Academic Office supports our students and faculty as they integrate science, engineering, and medicine to solve problems in human health. Our primary goal is to prepare students for productive careers as leaders in medical research and academic medicine. We strive to provide an individualized educational experience, to cultivate leadership and teamwork, and to foster respect for all. Through our educational program administration and support services, the Academic Office provides a strong foundation for the educational mission of IMES/HST.

HMS - Office for Culture and Community Engagement

Resources that promote excellence in teaching and learning, discovery and scholarship, and service and leadership. OCCE focuses on two main areas: 1) providing opportunities and access to help individuals thrive, and 2) collaboration and community-building.

Harvard Catalyst catalyzes research across all clinical and translational domains by providing investigators with opportunities such as pilot funding, free resources such as biostatistics consultations, training and mentoring programs, and numerous courses.

HMS/HSDM Leadership Development Course for Physicians and Scientists

A three-day course designed for the HMS and HSDM instructors and assistant professors who have a responsibility for a research grant, laboratory, educational course, or clinical program.

Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM)

The ELAM program is a year-long part-time fellowship for women faculty in shools of medicine, dentistry, public health and pharmacy. The program is dedicated to developing the professional and personal skills required to lead and manage in today’s complex health care environment, with special attention to the unique challenges facing women in leadership positions. Interested faculty must apply through the Office for Clinical and academic Affairs.

Executive Leadership in Health Care (ELH)

The Executive Leadership in Health Care program is targeted to rising women at the equivalent of the associate professor level who are established experts in their domain. Candidates will have a track record of achievement in clinical program development (or other institutional-level activities that mark them as appropriate) and have aspirations to lead at the executive level in the next five years. Interested faculty must apply through the Office for Clinical and academic Affairs.

The Joint Committee on the Status of Women

The Joint Committee on the Status of Women (JCSW), established in 1973 is an administrative committee of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) representing an inclusive constituency of faculty, staff, fellows, residents, and students of HMS, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and affiliated hospitals and institutions.

Paths to Leadership, Office for Culture and Community Engaglement

Career development training sessions provide Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) junior faculty, clinical fellows, and research fellows, and administrators with information and skills needed for professional and career advancement in academic medicine, and specifically advancement within the Harvard Medical School community.

Enriching Engagement and Preventing Burnout

A two-hour virtual workshop offers staff an opportunity to practice strategies to maintain and build engagement while balancing individual circumstances with work priorities. Preventing burnout will share methods to minimize stress at work and home
