Holiday greetings

December 20, 2023

Dear Members of the HMS Community:

As I reflect on the past year, I am awestruck by the many spectacular scientific discoveries that have emerged from our laboratories in 2023. I am inspired by the tireless efforts of our faculty to educate students on our campus and learners around the globe. And I marvel at the selfless dedication of our clinicians who continue to deliver lifesaving, compassionate care to patients.

Whether faculty, trainees, students, or staff, each of you plays an essential role in advancing the Harvard Medical School mission. Through your collective efforts this past year, HMS has contributed so much good to the world.

The past year has also brought enormous challenges to our community and our world. Across HMS, these challenges have compelled us to begin productive dialogue and reminded us of our foundational mission and community values.

I look forward to 2024 with optimism, grounded on the conviction that we are strong as an institution and will do more good work in the year to come through our research, teaching, and clinical service. Excellence in all of these endeavors is the core of our identity at Harvard Medical School.

As we gather together with family and friends around the holidays and winter recess, let us acknowledge how fortunate we are to be members of this remarkable community of strivers, learners, and healers.
