• Online application: All applicants must create a user account via Harvard Medical School’s application portal. You may save your application and return it later if you need more time to complete it, but please submit all materials by the application deadline. All supporting application materials must be submitted through the online application system.
• Curriculum Vitae: provides a summary of your experience, education, skills, awards, and any research/medical publications.
• Letter of Intent: No more than three pages in length, describing interest in the program, qualifications, and area of research interest
• Three Letters of Recommendation: Applicants must provide the email addresses of three recommenders in the application system. These recommenders will receive instructions to upload the letter of recommendation, and we require recommenders to submit their letters through our online system.
• Transcript(s): Applicants upload unofficial transcripts to the online application. Transcripts must be in English or accompanied by an official English translation.
• $100 USD application fee
• TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo Score:
  • A language proficiency test is required for applicants for whom English was not the medium of instruction for their undergraduate or graduate degree. MMSc-Medical Education accepts TOEFL iBT, IELTS Academic, or the Duolingo English Test.
  • Minimum Test Score Requirements:
    • TOEFL iBT: 103
    • TOEFL Essentials: 11
    • IELTS Academic: 7.5
    • Duolingo English Test: 130
  • Submission Instructions:
    • To submit TOEFL scores, use code 3151: Harvard Medical School Graduate Education Master’s Programs.
    • To submit IELTS scores, contact the test center where you took the IELTS test to request that your scores be sent via E-Delivery to:

Please note that applications will not be reviewed until the program has all of the documentation mentioned above, along with three letters of recommendation.

Degree Recognition

Students pursuing online degrees should note that the governments of some countries may not formally recognize online degrees earned from foreign institutions. This could impact students who wish to enroll in other academic programs or seek employment with governmental agencies or employers that require specific credentials. Harvard Medical School cannot confirm that its online degree programs will be recognized in or meet requirements to comply with distance education regulations in any particular non-U.S. country. It is the responsibility of each student to determine how the laws and regulations of any particular non-U.S. country, including those related to degree recognition, apply to participation in Harvard Medical School programs.
