The Residential Life team at Vanderbilt Hall consists of a Residential Life Manager and Resident Advisors (RA), all of whom live onsite. The RAs and the Residential Life Manager provide opportunities for the Vanderbilt Hall community to come together.

The Residential Life Manager oversees the Resident Advising Program and is responsible for their training and supervision. The Residential Life Manager is also responsible for overseeing student life and activities in Vanderbilt Hall and supports the personal and professional development of students living in the Residence Hall.

In addition, the Residential Life Manager coordinates programs and support to develop the interpersonal skills of the Resident Advisors and to address the individual and collective needs and interests of the Vanderbilt community. The Residential Life Manager is also available in cases of emergency and to discuss urgent problems and personal issues.

Serving as an RA is considered a practicum in leadership, problem-solving, community building, and human relationships. The Resident Advisor Program is designed to benefit both the residents of Vanderbilt Hall and the RAs throughout and beyond their school experience in the Harvard Longwood Medical Area.

Resident Advisors

The Resident Advisor Program was established to promote community as well as to support the welfare of individual residents. The RAs are also available in the living areas for peer counseling and advising.

All residents are encouraged to introduce themselves to their RA(s) and to consider any RA to be a resource. Each RA can help any resident of Vanderbilt Hall. RAs are selected each spring, usually before Spring Break.
