Harvard Catalyst | the Harvard Clinical and Translational Science Center is pleased to announce a unique, time-limited opportunity for the Harvard University community to identify solutions to computational algorithmic problems with health-related applications.
Crowdsourcing in this case will be done by engaging a worldwide online community of highly skilled problem solvers in competition for prize money. Algorithms developed through crowdsourcing tend to outperform solutions derived through conventional means, sometimes by orders of magnitude. Harvard Catalyst will provide assistance in formulating participants’ final submission statements and will sponsor several challenges that will run on a crowdsourcing platform.
By November 18, faculty, associates, students and other members of Harvard and its affiliated institutions are invited to submit a problem for consideration, with rolling decisions to be made starting October 30.
This program is funded in part by an NIH/National Center for Research Resources grant supporting Harvard Catalyst’s investigation of the applicability and results of open innovation methodologies in academic biomedical research.
