Summary
Officially launched in February 2014, the goal of the Football Players Health Study at Harvard University is to improve the health and wellbeing of former professional football players. Drawing on expertise from Harvard’s schools and 16 teaching hospitals and research institutions, this project focuses on the whole player over the course of his whole life, seeking to examine the health conditions that affect former NFL players and to find better ways to diagnose, treat, and prevent their most pressing medical problems. The study is a multi-year effort (funded for an initial five years with plans for long-term continued study after this period).
