We hold a variety of 60-minute optional attendance workshops throughout the academic year. Each month brings a new set of offerings, with topics closely tailored to student requests and the academic cycle.
Sample workshop topics include Basic Grammar and Composition, Thesis Construction, Abstracts 101, How to Define Your Scholarly Voice, Conference Presentation 101, AI and Citation Practices, and much more.
All workshops include topic-specific instruction, a group or individual activity, and open discussion plus Q&A.
General Learning Objectives and Outcomes for Workshops:
Identify key components of a topic
Develop a strong command of proper usage
Explore tool-building skills
Remember - the goal is to increase your level of confidence in these areas, not become an expert overnight!
Workshop information, including dates and times, is announced via Gaby Calderon in the Student Newsletter and via Naomi Hein in week-of email communication.
A fantastic resource from the Harvard University Derek Bok Center for Teaching & Learning. An open-access Canvas site that covers topics from email composition to vocabulary, academic small talk, and presentation skills. No registration is required, and it is ungraded. The modules are self-guided, so you can pick and choose what interests you most.
The Countway Library provides a wealth of resources for the Harvard Medical School community. A good place to turn to for primary and secondary sources, as well as dedicated librarians who can assist with citation software and any research-related questions you may have.
