Education is at the heart of the HMS Celiac Research Program.
The combined group holds monthly meetings, hosted in rotation by the three participating institutions. During these meetings, the members review cases and receive valuable feedback. Quite often, their combined knowledge leads to fresh ideas and perspectives. These meetings are also used to discuss publications of interest, present research topics and brainstorm on study design and strategy. The members understand that in order to achieve the program’s ultimate goal of improving the quality of life for patients with celiac disease and gluten-related disorders, it’s important to consult and collaborate with others in the field. By joining forces, the members can conduct research that fills gaps in current knowledge and pave the way for innovative prevention and treatment options.
Developing educational programming is another key component of our mission. Our virtual monthly webinars, co-hosted by the National Celiac Association, are open to the public and feature celiac disease experts from across the country. Our multidisciplinary speakers have specialized knowledge on celiac disease, related autoimmune conditions and nutrition. These webinars are invaluable resources to the public and are a fun, interactive way to connect with each other and the community.
