Partners gets $12M from NIH to build a Boston health innovation center

Partners HealthCare has won a $12 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to establish an innovation center in Boston to speed new health solutions to market. The grant will also enable HMS to educate researchers throughout the region on best practices in the field of medical commercialization. Anne Klibanski, the Laurie Carrol Guthart Professor of Medicine and associate dean for clinical and translational research at Harvard Catalyst, is quoted.

Workout booster contains banned stimulant, study finds

A popular sports supplement sold as a workout booster to help users “train beyond” their limits contains a banned substance derived from methamphetamine, according to tests conducted by researchers from HMS and elsewhere. Pieter Cohen, HMS assistant professor of medicine at Cambridge Health Alliance, is one of the leaders of the study.
