The Massachusetts Prostate Cancer Coalition awarded William Shipley, the Andres Soriano Professor of Radiation Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital, with the 2010 Jack Colbert Memorial Award. The Colbert award, presented at the coalition’s 12th Annual Conquer & Cure dinner in November, is given to a person in the medical community who has significantly advanced the treatment of prostate cancer through research and practice.
Rachel Wilson, HMS associate professor of neurobiology, received the Young Investigator Award from the Society for Neuroscience. Established in 1983 and supported by AstraZeneca, the award includes $15,000 and recognizes the achievements of neuroscientists who have received an advanced degree in the past 10 years. Wilson was honored for her work in nerve cell signaling, including current study of the activity of brain cells in intact fly brains to examine odor representations in the olfactory system.
