This webpage is for next of kin and family members of anatomical donors who willed their bodies to Harvard Medical School.
Read the community email from Harvard University Provost Alan M. Garber and Harvard Medical School Dean George Q. Daley, sent Dec. 7, 2023.
The alleged criminal acts committed by former HMS employee Cedric Lodge are morally reprehensible and inconsistent with the standards that Harvard University, Harvard Medical School, our anatomical donors, and their loved ones expect and deserve. We reaffirm our deep sorrow for the continued uncertainty and distress that families face as the criminal proceedings continue.
We have established the following resources specifically for next of kin and donor family members:
- Toll-free information and support center staffed by specially trained counselors who are available at 1-877-841-1080 to provide mental health and emotional support.
- Update letters sent Dec. 7, 2023, via first-class mail to documented next of kin.
- AGP Update and full Summary Report on the Harvard Medical School Anatomical Gift Program.
- Answers to frequently asked questions.
- Brief updates on the criminal investigation into Cedric Lodge, as announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
- Contact information for the U.S. Attorney’s Office Victim and Witness Unit at USAPAM.Victim.Information@usdoj.gov or 717-614-4249. The USAO will continue to attempt to identify victims. Unfortunately, the USAO also has indicated that positive identifications are not likely possible given the nature of the alleged crime. Family members and next of kin may also use this contact information to request to be added to the contact list for the criminal case.
