Music training may boost young brains, studies suggest

Playing a musical instrument can cause fundamental changes in a young person’s brain, shaping both how it functions and how it is physically structured, according to researchers who presented the findings at a press conference this week. Gottfried Schlaug, HMS associate professor of neurology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, was the press conference moderator.
