Daniel Ennis, former associate vice president for finance and financial planning for Harvard, was named HMS executive dean for administration. He succeeds Cynthia Walker, who announced her intention to step down this summer.

Ennis has held several positions in the University’s Finance Office since he came to Harvard in 2003. In his role as director of Harvard’s Office of Budgets, Financial Planning and Institutional Research, his responsibilities included evaluating proposed operating and capital budgets for the University and tuition changes on behalf of the president, provost, and CFO. In addition, he recently assumed a broader set of financial leadership responsibilities including oversight of financial planning for Allston campus development.

Ennis is also a Harvard alum, graduating with a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Master in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. He currently serves on the Alumni Advisory Board. Before joining the Finance Office, he worked at McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm, where he led a strategic review of Harvard’s central administration.
