What brought you to HMS?
The HMS community values align with my personal values. Working together to give back to the community is what brought me here. My experience in hospitality management also helped me transition into my current role as community manager.

What did you do before you started working at HMS?
I was a medical interpreter at South Shore Hospital, providing interpretation services to non-English speaking Chinese patients. Prior to that, I spent 10 years serving in the U.S. Navy, where I worked as a culinary specialist, cooking on ships for more than 3,000 onboard service members and managing the funding and food budget. Toward the end of my enlistment, I was in a senior leadership role, in charge of shipboard dining service operations and hotel lodging on a military base.

What do you like best about working here?
The work/life balance is fantastic, and everyone is so warm and friendly. It’s really made me feel welcomed.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
I enjoy table tennis, traveling, concerts, and outdoor activities.

What are three things most people don’t know about you?
I don’t watch much TV and have never seen an episode of Game of Thrones or Lost. I’m creative and love dystopian art. I like working with my hands and enjoy building 3D models.

If you could meet any fictional character, who would it be and why?
I’d love to meet Dr. Emmett Brown from Back to the Future, because he is still the coolest scientist to travel back in time with and correct a few mistakes.
