Fidencio Saldaña has been appointed the Medical School’s new faculty assistant dean for Student Affairs in the Office of Recruitment and Multicultural Affairs, effective Sept.1.
Saldaña is an attending physician in Medicine and Cardiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Faulkner Hospital, who received an MD and MPH from Harvard. While a student at HMS, he cofounded Medical Students de Las Americas. Following a residency and chief residency in internal medicine and a cardiology fellowship and advanced fellowship in cardiovascular imaging at BWH, Saldaña joined the BWH faculty as a member of the Division of Cardiology.
He has focused his professional efforts on training, advising and mentoring students at HMS, BWH and Faulkner Hospital, and he has received numerous teaching and mentoring awards. He also holds leadership roles at BWH as site co-director in Patient–Doctor II and as course co-director of Cardiovascular Pathophysiology in Human Systems.
