Who Should Apply

This program is designed for applicants who have completed a medical degree and aspire to become leaders in evidence-based medicine (EBM), including medical fellows or residents, junior faculty members, nurses, social workers, and other health care professionals. Current medical school students will be considered.

The Master of Science in Clinical Research program is designed to equip graduates with the skills to critically appraise and apply research findings, enhance their ability to improve clinical practice, contribute to the scientific community, and assume leadership roles within the health care industry. Graduates of this program will be prepared to advance their careers in the following ways:

  • Enhance clinical practice: Evidence-based medicine (EBM) provides a framework for making clinical decisions based on the best available evidence, therefore leading to better patient care and outcomes
  • Clinical Leadership Roles: Take on roles as clinical directors or department heads where they can influence practice standards and protocols
  • Policy Development Leadership Roles: Contribute or lead committees and boards that develop clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Clinical Research Opportunities: Engage in or lead clinical research projects due to robust training in research methods, such as guideline development, systematic review and meta-analysis, mixed-methods research, omics, artificial intelligence, and manuscript writing
  • Academic and Teaching Positions: Teach or develop curricula at universities and training programs, educating the next generation of health care professionals in evidence-based practices
  • Consulting and Advisory Positions: Serve as consultants or advisors to health organizations, insurance companies, and regulatory bodies on matters related to clinical practice and health care policies
  • Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives within health care organizations, aiming to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and safety of health care services
