Edward J. Benz Jr., Richard and Susan Smith Professor of Medicine and chief executive of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, announced that he would step down as CEO at Dana-Farber after a 16-year run that saw the specialty hospital become a fund-raising powerhouse and change from a regional center to an international destination for cancer research and treatment.
