MEDscience Reunion Program

Are you interested in enrolling a high school-aged family member in a hands-on medical education experience while you attend your Reunion?


Students enrolled in grades 10 through 12 during the 2017-2018 academic year


May 31 – June 1
8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.


Harvard Medical School Quad

Based on high school STEM education, HMS MEDscience inspires students to learn without limits and engages them in science through hands-on experiences. Students will

  • Interact with a life like patient mannequin in simulations lab on campus 
  • Perform hands-on medical procedures with simulation trainers and equipment 
  • Train in a medical skills clinic (e.g. inserting a patient’s breathing tube, starting an intravenous line, suturing)
  • Improve critical thinking and teamwork skills while solving realistic medical problems
  • Participate in interactive lectures on two body systems (geared for multiple learning styles) 
  • Engage in a simulated medical emergency as a health care team member
  • Hear directly from health professionals

Program cost is $500, which also includes 

  • Breakfast and lunch each day
  • An HMS embroidered tote bag
  • Scrubs  
  • Stethoscope
  • Copies of “The Human Body Book” by Steve Parker and “Complications: A Surgeons Notes on an Imperfect Science” by Atul Gawande, MD ’94, MPH ’99
  • Certificate of completion signed by Dean Nancy Oriol, MD ’79, and the executive director of the HMS MEDscience Program
