The Harvard Medical School Office of Communications and External Relations can assist with questions regarding research and clinical care throughout the HMS community. We can help you locate experts in basic, translational and clinical research, as well as help you obtain more information regarding recent news. We welcome journalists and other media representatives to the medical school campus. Please contact us to arrange for an interview, photo shoot, or video taping.
We believe that working with the news media is vital to improving the public’s understanding of science.
An engaged and informed public is central to our mission to glean knowledge that alleviates human suffering caused by disease. For this reason, each spring our office hosts a media fellowship program. This week-long “immersion” program allows a group of reporters to spend time on our campus and in our affiliated hospitals and institutes to gain a deeper understanding of the spectrum of research being done in a particular area. Past programs have focused on issues ranging from emerging infectious diseases to the science of sleep to mental health.

Quad and HMS-Affiliated Institutions
Harvard Medical School’s main quadrangle, the “Quad,” located in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area, comprises dozens of labs, classrooms and offices, serving as a home for more than 150 tenure and tenure-track faculty. The School extends beyond the Quad through its affiliation agreements with 15 hospitals and research institutes. These vital teaching and research partners include more than 10,000 physicians and scientists with HMS faculty appointments.
