Human Systems: Dermatologic Pathophysiology
The major focus of the Human Systems course is on disease mechanisms. Pathophysiology of the Skin takes place over 5 mornings. Daily small group sessions follow morning lectures and correlate clinical or gross dermatological descriptions and microscopic pathology. The structure and function of the skin and dermatological terms are introduced. Lectures focus on disorders involving the epidermis, blistering diseases, pigmentation, skin cancer, acne, cutaneous immune reactions, infestations, infections, and connective tissue disease. - Small-group Instructor: Meets with 20 students every day for 1 week to facilitate case discussion.
