
Rachel Wasserstrom, MBA is a seasoned hospital executive with expertise in strategy and business development, hospital operations, P&L management, ambulatory practice optimization and physician compensation planning.
As the SVP and Chief Strategy Officer at Emerson Health, Rachel is focused on strengthening Emerson’s market position by growing service lines, creating new business opportunities, and bolstering affiliations and partnerships. From 2020-2024, Rachel held several senior level roles at Tufts Medical Center where she oversaw ambulatory operations and administrative activities for all academic departments in the faculty practice, spearheaded the system-wide Tufts Medicine Ambulatory Operations Council, led the Tufts Medical Center Administrative Fellowship program and directed the small capital process for Tufts Medical Center.
Prior to Tufts Medical Center, Rachel was the Vice President at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where she provided overall strategy and oversaw day-to-day operations for the largest otolaryngology department in the country.
From 2006-2014, Rachel served as the Executive Administrator in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she focused on the network expansion strategy, building partnerships externally with community hospitals and internally partnering with other Brigham and Women’s service lines.
As a thought leader in healthcare management, Rachel also teaches and serves as the Harvard Medical School Associate Director for the post graduate Master of Science in Clinical Service Operations program, leveraging her clinical operations management expertise to educate the next generation of healthcare leaders.
Rachel earned an AB from Dartmouth College and an MBA in Healthcare Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
