Financial aid is awarded on an annual basis. Each year, students are required to complete the financial aid application process anew. Application materials are provided electronically to admitted students and to all waitlisted admissions candidates. Returning students receive instructions via email.
Financial aid award decisions are made following the submission of all financial aid application materials by March 15. Award letters are emailed to first-year MD students on a rolling basis, beginning in late March. Award letter notifications are emailed to returning students in late June. Each award recipient is required to acknowledge the aid award within thirty days of receipt of the award electronically. Please see below for information on adjusting your financial aid award.

In addition, students are instructed to complete the Outside Scholarship Form to indicate any outside financial aid awards not already listed on the award package. Similarly, if the student elects to decline any portion of the recommended loan amounts, s/he must reduce the loan amounts electronically.
Students who know they will need additional loan assistance to cover some or all of the expected family contribution may make their requests by completing the 2025-26 Loan Adjustment Form. Ordinarily these requests will first be met with funds from the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan program to the extent permitted by federal borrowing limits and then if necessary with funds from the Federal Direct GradPLUS Loan program. The Federal Direct GradPLUS Loan requires the Financial Aid Office to obtain a credit check, which requires completion of the GradPLUS Loan Consent Form. Students who are not eligible for federal funds may borrow, if necessary, from supplemental private loan programs.
