Who Should Apply

The Master of Medical Sciences in Clinical Investigation program is designed for the next generation of independent investigators. Medical professionals applying should hold an MD, PhD, MBBS, MBBCh, or comparable degree and be currently working in clinical or translational research. Candidates from all over the world apply to this highly selective program and admits students from within and outside the United States, enriching our program with their varied perspectives and experiences.

Upon graduating from this program, career options include: progression to independent investigators, directors of research, chief medical officers, or leaders in academic research.

Harvard Medical School MD Students

Earn a joint MD MMSc degree at HMS

Harvard Medical School MD students can participate in an accelerated Master of Medical Sciences in Clinical Investigation degree program. This is a 56-credit program comprised of 16 credits of taught courses (during M3 and/or M4) and 40 credits for mentored research during the fifth year.
