The HMS Academy Medical Education Fellowship Overview:

The HMS Academy Medical Education Fellowship provides educators with dedicated time to develop the expertise and skills needed to advance academic careers in medical education and medical education research. Faculty participating in the Fellowship will:

  • Develop and enhance their skills as clinician educators;
  • Develop analytical and research skills in medical education;
  • Acquire the knowledge and skills to become educational leaders and change agents within their academic communities;
  • Join a community of clinician-educators dedicated to enriching the field of medical education;
  • Complete a major project focused on curriculum, faculty development, learner assessment, or educational research; preference is given to projects that address topics and/or teaching venues important to medical student education.

The Academy Fellowship in Medical Education Research Overview:

The Academy Fellowship in Medical Education Research provides faculty, clinical fellows, and residents who are interested in careers as educators and opportunities to develop the expertise and skills needed to advance scholarship in medical education and medical education research. We will be accepting 2-3 fellows in the coming academic year. There are currently 4 research fellows who will be starting the second year of their fellowship in September 2017, and we will be offering fellowships to 2-3 participants into the program.

Learners participating in the Fellowship will:

  • Develop analytical and research skills in medical education;
  • Acquire working knowledge of key theories and methods to carry out rigorous research in medical education;
  • Complete one major group project and one individual project related to medical education.
