Principles of Pharmacology
This course provides an introduction to pharmacology, emphasizing basic mechanisms of drug action and principles of drug-receptor interactions, pharmacokinetics, and drug metabolism. Drug classes are illustrated using prototypic drugs, focusing on mechanisms of drug action rather than on small differences between similar agents. Relationships between basic mechanisms and clinical uses of therapeutic agents are explored in small-group conferences and case-based tutorials.
- Minicase Leader: Meets with 12 students 5 times per week for 2 hours to facilitate discussion of minicases.
