Human Systems: Respiratory Pathophysiology
The major focus of the Human Systems course is on disease mechanisms. The Respiratory section is three weeks long. The goal of the Respiratory section is for students to learn the ways in which disease processes affect the mechanical and gas exchange functions of the respiratory system. In addition to the clinical and pathophysiologic manifestations, the pathology and radiology of common disease processes are emphasized.
- Tutor: Meets with 8 students 3 times per week for 1.5 hours to facilitate clinical case discussion.
- Respiratory Small Group Instructor: Meets with 20 students 3 times per week for 2 hours to facilitate case discussion.
- Pathology Lab Instructor: Meets with 20 students once a week for 2 hours for teaching lab exercises.
