Course Description

The major focus of the Human Systems course is on disease mechanisms. The Cardiovascular section is three weeks long. Students are introduced to the most common cardiovascular disease states. Emphasis is placed on understanding mechanisms of heart disease and reasoning from principles of physiology learned in the first year, as well as fundamental principles of organ pathology.

Opportunities Available

  • Tutor: Meets with 8 students 3 times per week for 1.5 hours to facilitate clinical case discussion.
  • Cardiovascular Small Group Instructor: Meets with 20 students 3 times per week for 2 hours to facilitate case discussion.
  • Pathology Lab Instructor: Meets with 20 students once a week for 2 hours for teaching lab exercises.
