There are numerous learning and development opportunities on the Harvard Longwood Campus.  Learn more about the resources that are available to you.

What Learning and Development Options are available for staff on the Harvard Longwood Campus (HLC)?

On any given day, there are many opportunities to gain new skills and knowledge locally on the Harvard Longwood Campus. Here are four informative options:

1. The HLC Manager/Supervisor Series
The second offering of this six-part series is now underway.  Module topics include: Recruitment and Selection, Management Styles, Interpersonal Skills, Personal Effectiveness, Teambuilding and Coaching. The series will be offered again in the spring:

2. The HLC Lunch & Learn Series
(12:00-1:00 p.m., feel free to bring lunch) Register here

3. Research Administration
Focused Topics are 60 to 90-minute sessions on a specific research administration topic. Topics have been chosen based on requests from departments, issues related to research and grant compliance, or a new policy or procedure. 4. CWD (Center for Workplace Development)
Several classes are taking place on the Longwood Campus, as well as in Cambridge, over the next few months.  Take a look —the Spring Calendar is available on HARVie, here.

What is one great way to refresh my energy on a busy day?

Visit the Transit Gallery, open to all members of the Harvard Longwood Campus Community. 

  • Take a break from the hustle-bustle of your daily activities, and stroll through the lower level of Gordon Hall to enjoy the current exhibit, 2013 Log, featuring the work of Douglas Weatherby, which integrates daily photography and text to document a year of work and life. For more information about Douglas Weatherby, please visit http://www.drwservice.com/.  This exhibit will be on display through Monday, February 24.  
  • Save the Date! March 11, 2014, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m., Goldenson 122
    Please join artist Helen Meyrowitz, when she shares her exhibit, Life Force: Art of Helen Meyrowitz which reflects the complicated mix of emotions experienced as her husband, Sidney, suffered from and eventually succumbed to Alzheimer's disease.  HMS Dean Jeffrey S. Flier will join her discussion, and describe current Alzheimer's research.  A reception will follow in the Transit Gallery.
