There were 5,435 completed applications for the August 2011 entering class.

Annually, Harvard Medical School interviews between 800-1000 applicants for a class of 165.

All entrants took the MCAT and had baccalaureate degrees.

The class is made up of students:

  • from 88 undergraduate institutions, 33 states and 7 foreign countries
  • 80% of whom majored in the sciences, 9.7% hold advanced degrees
  • 47% are women, 53% are men
  • 18% are from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in medicine
  • the class ranges in age from 20-30
  • average GPA: 3.8
  • average MCAT scores by section
