Richard G. Mills, JD, is Executive Dean for Administration as well as the Dean for Education and Global Program Administration.

As Executive Dean for Administration, he is the senior administrative officer of Harvard Medical School and is responsible for the management and coordination of the administrative operations of the School, including all financial, facility, human resources, IT, communications and external relations and other business operations.

In his capacity as Dean for Education and Global Program Administration his areas of administrative responsibility include the Program in Medical Education, the graduate education programs, global programs, Countway Medical Library, the Center for Biomedical Informatics, Harvard Health Publications, and Continuing Medical Education.

Since joining HMS in 2005, he has demonstrated outstanding leadership as Associate Dean for Planning and Facilities and Dean for Operations and Business Affairs.

Before joining Harvard Medical School in 2005, he was the principal of a strategic consulting firm. Prior to consulting, he worked as a department director and as senior staff Counsel at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. Rick began his career as a litigation attorney at the Boston firm of Posternak, Blankstein & Lund.

He has received his AB from Hamilton College and JD from Boston University.
